I keep hearing this from bootlickers and it is so damn frustrating.
On the one hand their technically correct, we could tax billionaires 100% and it wouldn't pay for all the social programs we need/want. But that's not the point or how any of this works.
What these morons don't get is that unlike the internet, the economy really is like a series of tubes/plumbing that are supposed to distribute resources. In order for billionaires to exist you have to force the tubes into bottlenecks, creating not just gob-smacking inefficiency, but incredible waste and redundancy. Restructuring the economy so that it would be impossible for billionaires to exist would mean no more bottlenecks, an abundance of opportunity, social mobility, and organic growth.
