i post in here a lot but i dont give context cus i forgot this is anon so here's a new one.
i work at forever 21 and they just began a concert sweepstakes. it started 12/27 and ends 1/31. i know all this because we got an announcement on the 23rd with all the information. we got little cards with QR codes as bag stuffers and like any coupon promotion at any store, we are instructed per the paper work from corporate to hand them out to every customer.
when i asked my manager for a run down, she told me to only give them to people who ask about the sweepstakes so for that whole day i asked people before the end of the transaction if they were interested. maybe gave out 10 codes in 7 hours.
this week, specifically the 27th, i start handing them out. we were too early to hand them out last week and that was my managers mistake, but out of nowhere on the 27th she walked up to me and took all the boxes of codes and just said “this is done now.” i tried to tell her that the codes all say the comp starts 12/27, i tried to show her the paper. but instead she literally threw the boxes full of individual code's into the trash and walked away. when i asked a coworker about them and how it was supposed to start that day, she told me my manager said to “only give them to people who are nice.” which is just fucked up all together.
i asked someone from my home store (like the store i transferred from) if they were participating in the sweepstakes, and they said they just put out the marketing and codes on the start date.
ive been seeing lots of posts about the sweepstakes and people being excited, and its a super cool opportunity. i cant believe my manager is screwing everyone out of it and not taking anyones word.
besides this bothering me i have to wonder if this could be something i could report to my higher ups? it was blatant disrespect towards me, treating me like i dont know anything, and it's also not supporting the company.
im so over my job. i just wanted to make people happy with their clothes :/
