I don’t really get the concept of middle management in todays world. Most of them at the company I work for have no clue what’s going on and just seem to be holding on until retirement.
Take for example my supervisor. I actually supervise her most of the time. I have to redo most of her work (I’m not even sure she realizes this) and she pushes a lot of her responsibilities on me.
She comes to me with questions she should be answering. When I go into her office, 80% of the time she’s on her phone with either her computer screen off or it’s on and there’s no programs open.
I really don’t know what she does all day.
I will say, as a younger person it really frustrates me that people higher than me do not understand the basics of technology.
This morning she called me into her office to help her with her computer. She has been struggling for 30 minutes to get her screens to come up. She insisted that she had everything on her dock connected correctly. I looked and she only has the power cable connected to her laptop. She had the usb cable from her dock looped back into her dock.
Last week she couldn’t comprehend why her computer wasn’t working at all. She forgot her laptop at home. She thought the dock was the only part she needed to make it function.
Wtf is the point of keeping these people around?
