Why do employers think that employees should be completely available for 8 hours a day, mon-fri, every single week without question? Why do they act completely thrown off when we request off? Maybe they should consider hiring enough staff that an employee short doesn't completely tank the daily productivity margin? I requested a day off for a huge exam that will advance my career impeccably (the next step after my Bachelor's degree) and I gave notice the day after it was scheduled, 38 days in advance…. Over a month. The answer I received was, ” I ALREADY MADE THE SCHEDULE!” They asked me if I could work the day after my test ( a day I normally have off because I actually work longer shifts 4 days a week) and I said that would be fine but they were so butthurt about it. I worked 100 hours this paycheck and came in 2 days extra to help out and stayed very late… I always offer to work longer and help more because my clown ass thinks it'll make them appreciate me more. Fuck em, I'm not going to be at work that day and I'm going to completely turn off my phone so no one can contact me and try to talk me into coming in because my future> your $13.87/hr bullshit wage for a job I don't even like in the slightest. Fuck em
