Why do the teachers’ unions seem to suck?

Why are the teachers’ unions failing? The police unions have done a fine job getting their workers protections, not saying I want my teacher beating a student but they should be able to teach lgbt without being fined or fired. Representation is important to show and helps all feel included but anyway… Are teachers’ unions so weak because teachers are mostly employed publicly therefore what they can negotiate for the state can limit? I remember when I lived in Iowa there was a state cap on gov unions, non emergency, that they could only negotiate pay raise and it was a tiny percent (

Are teachers’ unions so weak because teachers are mostly employed publicly therefore what they can negotiate for the state can limit? I remember when I lived in Iowa there was a state cap on gov unions, non emergency, that they could only negotiate pay raise and it was a tiny percent (<3%). But that doesn’t explain why the teachers don’t have many protections for many of the problems they have had for years.

It’s not like unions are a new thing to teachers but they accept a lot of pizza party as praise. Why is that?
