I have always wondered why people who make a low wage continue to live in a high cost of living area? Is it the inability to pay to move to a new state/city that is cheaper?
The company I work for has manufacturing jobs available in LCOL areas that pay $20-30 per hour (With full Benes after 90 days), but they can't find people to do the work as they have expanded (and have been raising wages to resolve this). From reading this sub it sounds like a lot of people make $15 per hour or less in HCOL areas, which is more or less only covering rent and food. I personally moved out of my home town away from family and friends in search of better jobs and a better quality of life, so I am curious why others don't do the same to enjoy a better quality of life and reduced financial stress.
