Why is the answer always just move yourself to a small town

I don't have anything against small towns. In fact I maybe even romanticize them too much but I would never want to live in one since I would never see my friends and I would probably have to quit my hobbies or drive hours to a city to do them. My mom grew up in a tiny village and now lives in a small town. Every time she talks she tells me I should move somewhere like where she lives and I find it insufferable. Sure maybe I could find a job a little easier and afford a house but my mental health would suffer because what else could I do asides from work? I know many people in their 20s and 30s are moving to smaller towns to be able to afford life but I just can't fully get aboard that train. I just wish city living was more…
