The book “Freakonomics” talks about how real estate agents would become less important as info about housing transactions became common knowledge.
I can attest to this as I seamlessly sold my home without an agent, and replaced myself as a renter for my landlord without using his agent – just posted on FB.
It's the same with corporate salaries. Our ignorance is their power. If Joe who does jack-shit makes what I make, then that's a problem, and I'm gonna bail. Add in if I find out what people make elsewhere, and it's game over for bad employers.
But we can fight this power by sharing what we know.
