I’ve applied to restaurants, retail, receptionist positions, coffee shops, grocery, you name it (all of which have now hiring signs up or very recent job postings online) – anything I qualify for in my area that’s hiring part time and I’ve gotten 3 interviews. I’ve called every place at least twice & walked in to follow up as well. I have customer service experience. I’m 20 & in college.
One was bullshit offering $9 near ATL to cashier, stock, do curbside, help customers on the floor, and told me I wouldn’t be seasonal, yet sent me an offer letter saying it was for a seasonal position. Nope. I’m not in college for only 4 months. Looking to work the entire time but thanks.
One was a clearly bullshit place to work for with no structure having group preliminary interviews for a literal hair salon receptionist.
And the other one hired me. FINALLY. But why the fuck have I applied to so many places, showed face to follow up, called, attached a resume, and I’ve only gotten three interviews. Every single place says the same shit “I’ll write your info down for my manager”.
And months back when I was looking for a job before I moved, I had a couple of interviews, each place reallllyyyy made it sound like I got the job, and then they never called me.
Are hiring managers just fucking empty in the head? Do they expect 20 year olds to have open availability & to be okay with $1.75 above minimum wage? I know they do but then they act like your application doesn’t exist. I know that store closing 2 hours early on certain days and having a line longer than the managers two front teeth doesn’t mean y’all aren’t looking for help right? Damn so hire people that need work.
People are so desperate they’re settling for these shitty jobs and it’s still not good enough
