My wife was getting a but of pressure from management about the team she manages i.e. various tasks not being done. Certain standards not. Being upheld etc. Despite management acknowledging staff and her working like mad, chronic understaffed, changing goalposts etc.
Her response, brilliant in its simplicity and changed the focus of accountability was:
“Look around, do you see one single thing in this place that can be fixed by people simply working harder?”
Tge answer was a resounding silence.
