Hi, sorry if this is the wrong sub but I’m looking for advice. Im 17F working at McDonald’s in the UK (England specifically) and recently went back to college. Because of this, I can only work past 5pm (I finish college at 4) and have to finish by 10pm otherwise I have to get a later bus and won’t be home until nearly half past midnight, which I can’t do when I have college the next morning. I also can only work from 2-10 on a Saturday (standing appt at midday, same reasons for not working past 10) and have requested Sundays off each week because the buses don’t run at normal times, and it gives me an entire day off to study.
I’m not sure how availability usually works, but on the employee website I’ve submitted my availability for the week beginning the 12th of September which has the hours outlined above. One of the managers declined it, which I didn’t even know they could do, and on Monday they’ve scheduled me to start at 4 (bearing in mind I finish college at 4 and have to get 2 buses to work) and go home at midnight, which means I’ll have to walk an hour and a half on a school night. Then on Tuesday they’ve put me from 5 until 11, which again I can only work until 10.
I had the same issue last week with the schedule but assumed it was a mistake, and the manager on shift let me go home early, but I can’t keep requesting to go home early every day. What should I do?
