Work hasn’t given breaks in 2 years

My job hasn't given anybody breaks since I started there. I'd like to say it's a good job but this fact is unredeemable to me. I have been promoted and I am tbe only team that gives a 1 hour break on a 12 hour shift. Everyone else works through. They all joke about if you take a break you're fired. Now management is saying that if they're getting 1 hour breaks they're not being paid for the 12 hours fully (this is discretionary where I'm from). My question is, and I'm willing to die on this hill for my team members, does that mean they're acknowledging their breaks are going from paid to unpaid? And we haven't bad breaks for 2 years so they have some backpack owed. Does this seem like a fair argument I could take to them?
