Every year the company that I work for has every employee go through a course on a government website just so they can be “100% compliant” with… something? No one knows exactly what, it's not in the company training program. Best guess is it's some sort of bragging rights for the company or they get a bit of funding from the govt. agency for the magic 100% compliance. The course material changes every year but it's not like it is hard or anything.
Anyone want to guess what this year's course theme is?
Ethics.
I have to say, I find it extremely insulting that my work place is mandating ethics courses for the rank-and-file when the work site vans' brakes have been written-up 3 times in as many months. Not worked on, just written-up.
Bottom line, they care more about being able to say they are “100% compliant”, in an industry-specific ethics training, than actually being ethical.
