Work training debt repayment when fired?

So I've been reading a lot of posts about people complaining their company sent them to training only to ask for reimbursement after they quit. Some of them signed contracts saying they need to work a certain amount of time or else they will need to repay the training cost. Some claimed, they signed nothing. It seems that a lot of companies now started doing this and it is based on if the employee leaves of his own free will. Would the contract and/or training repayment still be enforceable if the employee was fired? If so, why would one just not force the employer to fire them. It is extremely easy to get fired. The easiest of all is just stop showing up to work? I assume the act of not showing up will cause you to get fired? Or just keep calling in sick? There are tons of ways…
