Worked for a company that switched objectives

A few years ago I was hired as the first employee at an industrial engineering startup. I’m an electrician/ engineering technician by trade. I was promised training, opportunity and a guaranteed major bonus after the company was done with growing pains. For 6 monthes I worked every job under the sun: engineering, building, IT, project management, purchasing, sales, R&D and more all with just myself, and the husband/wife owners. Our business was very successful and we had over $300,000 in revenue within that short amount of time. Well, wife owner decides she wants less to do with engineering and more to do with wholesale flooring, so the company literally in less than a month shifted to opening a wholesale flooring company inside of our shop. Needless to say I called and resigned immediately and the owners couldn’t figure out why. Umm. I’m a tradesmen and technician in a niche market with over 6 years experience and you expect to to drop all that to learn how to install flooring full time. Does this sound unreasonable?
