I work in IT (software engineering, etc.) and recently started working a second job in a different tech industry, simultaneously. Fast forward 6 weeks from having been working both and for my primary (first) job corporate e-mail I received an ask for a background check from sterling background checks. I understand that I would likely be terminated if they found this out but is there any possibility of my two companies knowing i’m working a second job through the background check process? Would Sterling reach out to company 1 saying “we did a background check for job 2 “x” weeks ago and they accepted.”
Secondly, what if i just never engage in allowing them to do another background check?
Ethics aside, am I better off just quitting one of these jobs because i’m in danger of them knowing about one another, or is this a nothing burger?
