Working at Dillards feels like an MLM cult.

I’ve been working here as a sales associate for 2 months and this place is already about to drive me crazy. Everything is about sales per hour which is ridiculously high and pressuring us to get people to sign up for credit cards. Every morning we have a “morning meeting” which I find to be a waste of time as they go over the top 10 sellers of the previous day. Then last month they just introduced us a points program as an incentive for us getting credit card applications open. We get points when someone opens a credit card or use their Dillards credit card so now they’re really pressuring us to open up credit cards. I just don’t care. Yesterday I opened up a credit card and I was lucky I didn’t have to ask, the customer wanted it. She was approved and they announced my name on the intercom 3 times. Everyone’s excited and a manager even gave me ring pop for opening up a credit card like I’m a kid in grade school. I just don’t think it’s that serious. They say it’s to motivate us but it’s just coming off very cult like and toxic positive to me almost like an MLM when they have conferences and pressure you to recruit. Today I overheard a coworker talking crap about me not being excited about opening a credit card and they were more excited as if something is wrong with me. Excuse me for not thinking it’s a big deal to encourage people to go into debt. This place is cringy!
