Does anyone else think about how the 40 hours of a work week is just a little over 1,5 days. And if we could somehow just take those 1,5 days to work and leave the rest of the 5,5 days free for ourselves. How amazing would that be? (I know i know, how being alive and being a human being in capitalism works, but i just like to wonder)
It is just such an absurd annoyance and torture to have those 40 hours a week that is not so much in of itself, stretched out across 5 days. Tainting and ruining all the rest of the days with the unpleasant taste of work. And to add to that the commute times, the need to just somehow desperately unwind to get ready for another day. To try and sleep well for the next work day.
What a bizarre world we live in. Where our productivity has been only going up, yet our wages have not increased and neither have we gotten any more free time. Only profit, only maximize profit.. and only to the very few. Like it is just surreal that hundreds of millions of people need to suffer just because of the basic monkey greed of a few thousand of people.
I hope there comes a day where we can look at this inhuman mess and way of organizing human life as this deeply odd and messed up moment in human civilization where we were still trapped in the momentum of greed and corruption.
