working in extreme weather conditions

i just remembered when last year my state had a heatwave with temps in the 110s and it was declared a weather emergency. i asked my work to change my shift to start at 3 instead of 1:30 on the day that was supposed to be the hottest because I walk a half mile up hill to the bus and wanted to wait for a ride & they told me no because other people had to ride the bus too so it would be counted against me if i was late 🫶
