Roommate's company recently forced people to do 2 days minimum in office. They spew the typical rhetoric about camaraderie and culture. The thing is, they stagger who goes in to avoid too many people in the office at one time. Also, it's just their department. When my roommate goes in, she and 1 other person are the only people in the office. She doesn't even work with this person. So she's sitting in a freezing cold office alone. HOW IS THIS ANY DIFFERENT FROM WORKING AT HOME? HOW DOES AN EMPTY OFFICE BUILD CULTURE? Not to mention, my roommate is in sales so she's out seeing clients 30%-40% of the time. The VPs do go in too, but they have their own office and just barricade themselves inside so again, no difference.
