Worst Interview Ever

Applied as an admin at a roofing company. It's a new industry, but I've been an admin for well over five years now, actually closer to seven. I went in for the interview and have never been so appalled. I was asked why I was leaving my current company, explained that we were just sold and now departments are being cut. Basically, I'm looking for job security. He told me that “people my age” had no idea what it was like to get laid off with an actual pink slip, and that I was being ridiculous. He asked, “What makes you think I should allow you the opportunity to work here? Why are you so special and what could you possibly bring to the table?” I provided the standard answer to the “Why should we hire you” question and was met with a snort. He wanted to move on to…

He wanted to move on to wages. I said in the application that I was requesting the top end of what he was offering. He said, “You actually expect me to pay you that much??” I explained that I didn't want to take a pay cut from my current position. He launched into how I would be “useless to him” for the first 18 months, how I “didn't even have a Bachelor's degree” and therefore would not know how to operate his computer system (keep in mind no degree was required, per the Indeed post), how I was “worthless” because I didn't know roofing, etc.

He then questioned why I received a promotion and a $6 raise within a year at my last company. Before I could answer, he told me there was no way I was that good of an employee and they were clearly paying me not to jump ship after the sale of the company. I politely requested that he check my references to determine that. He said that was ridiculous, “bullshit”, etc.

Then we were left alone (the one who would be my immediate supervisor had been in, until he had to take a call). At this point he said that I was “cute” and he would offer me the job at $4 less an hour. He said I should ask my husband's permission to take the job (I never said I was married) and that I could work 50-60 hours a week to make up the pay cut.

At that point, I excused myself and left. This was Monday and I'm still disgusted.
