Worst Job Interview Experience

Had a meeting/interview for a potential job today. Husband/wife duo who own/run the business together. It's a very male-dominated field, so i'm making sure to include her as much as possible (i thought) bc it's very frustrating as woman in this industry to watch only the men get to answer questions or have input. I've met this couple before in a professional setting and was told that they “really liked me.” The job would consist of some customer service (managed by her), as well as some maintenance in the back (being managed by the husband). Meeting comes to an end, & the more her husband talks, the more she looks checked out. He complements my tattooes at one point so I say thank you and move on. I take a moment to check in with her and chat about her dogs. I ask her about a personal injury she sustained…

Had a meeting/interview for a potential job today.

Husband/wife duo who own/run the business together. It's a very male-dominated field, so i'm making sure to include her as much as possible (i thought) bc it's very frustrating as woman in this industry to watch only the men get to answer questions or have input. I've met this couple before in a professional setting and was told that they “really liked me.”

The job would consist of some customer service (managed by her), as well as some maintenance in the back (being managed by the husband).

Meeting comes to an end, & the more her husband talks, the more she looks checked out. He complements my tattooes at one point so I say thank you and move on. I take a moment to check in with her and chat about her dogs. I ask her about a personal injury she sustained at work last week & express how shitty that must have been.

She gives me one garbled sentence about how driving is difficult, then says “I don't want to talk about this anymore.” She also fully drops eye contact, stands up, & walks away, fully out of the room we were conducting the meeting in.

I follow her out & wait awkwardly as she is already fully enveloped in a mindless chat with another employee who has NOTHING to do so that I can check in & say the usual “Thank you for your time, etc”. I wait. Finally she acknowledges me, I say the thing, and she says, “Oh…yeah…you too.”

And back to chatting up the employee. I leave.

Cut to two hours later & i receive a text saying “they were chatting amongst themselves as well as other business owners in the area, & they can't really afford to hire another _____ right now.”

Ok. Didn't really want to work there anyways, but. What a nice way to tell me that she wasn't into it because I also have tits. Thanks.

We like to talk all about men in the workforce being creepy and all that, but I cannot tell you how many times I've been bullied or fired out of jobs by OTHER WOMEN.

I've been lucky & this hasn't happened to me in a long time, but – LADIES. The fuck. Not everyone prospective hire with tits wants to steal your husband. Or make you look bad.

I really want to give her the benefit of the doubt & believe that this is not the case, but my gut is also telling me otherwise based on my experience.

I'm not even that hot. Lol. I'm a solid 6 at best.
