Hi all,
An individual in my life has come to me about their employment and has explained how they are treated in their work environment. They are constantly talked down upon, told they need to do better even though they are the top performer in their group while other employees get praise for doing little to no work, management is constantly leaving work early and yelling and swearing all over the office. Any little thing that happens, this individual gets questioned and is constantly watched like a hawk. It has gotten to the point where this individual is so busy and worried that they will be looked down upon that they refuse to go to the rest room during work hours or hold it as long as they possibly can. In addition, this individual put in for 40 minutes of overtime just to have the manager say “I am not paying you for more than 40 hours. There is no way you worked more than that…” even though management is constantly leaving early to go to the driving range, lunches, etc; how would they even know if they worked more than 40 hours or not. I advised this individual to go to HR and tell them the issue needs to be resolved or they will go to the department of labor for emotional harassment, but I’m unsure if the department of labor does anything for that. Any advice is much appreciated.
