Some background, I had a temporary employment contract that was ending at the end of the month, but I had approved vacation starting next week. My employer was interested in me staying on as an independent contractor but wasn't willing to include certain items in the contract. Before this email, he told me that if I didn't sign the contract by 5pm today, my work with the company would end after 12/31. After I told him I wasn't going to be signing the contract (and why) this was his response. Even after asking for clarification, it's not entirely clear. I told him that they have everything they need (passwords etc) and never heard back. It feels like he's letting me go now to avoid paying for my vacation but also that he's trying to string me along in case they discover they still need me.
