I am a health care worker with a very specific position. I have a specialty license which allows me to perform a diagnostic test that Dr.'s order for their patients. I have worked at this hospital for less than a year and done this specialty test in addition to my normal duties for about 3 months there. I am an as needed worker and not benefited. My coworker who is well older than retirement age asked me to start helping out with this test so they could have more days off. I like doing the test, good hours, yeah no problem. my coworker before I was even trained asked me if i wanted to take over (red flag). they asked me if I wanted to grow the business and start doing outreach to Dr.'s..(which is not a typical task for this position), I was vague and said maybe at a later time. They then texted me prior to a shift I was supposed to work and told me that instead of just working i was to spend the day writing my business growth plan. I didn't respond and went straight to my director. I told my director that i am per diem I am here to perform the test and would not be completing these extra TASKS as i am not middle management or inclined at all to do so. My director agreed that this was not my role and that they would talk to my coworker. I have since received some angry emails saying that they are going to postpone their retirement do to me not stepping up and they don't know what my role will be in the future… angry and dramatic. My role will be the same it is now i suppose. I feel empowered! I could not care less, it is hilarious. I am a needed worker with a specialty license. I am in such high demand in this market and my director knows it. I work when I want day shift. This old badger is so delusional thinking I am going to do this garbage without even seeing an offer for the position. If you want me to “take over “and do a bunch of admin tasks put it in writing make me an offer.
