Seen a lot of posts recently about people getting 'write ups' for petty, inhumane and illegal things, but no one is talking about why this practice even exists (or shouldn't exist).
Having worked across the UK, Europe and Aus, I've never heard of anyone getting 'written up'.
– No such thing as X# 'write ups' before being fired
– No threats of it going on employment records
Sure there are performance reviews, but these are only really for when you fail at your job, and tend to be more constructive and collaborative.
Is this practise only in US culture?
