To put in perspective, I work in the trades (plumbing/sewer tech). My pay is commission based, so the more jobs I knock out/bigger jobs I do I make more money. I average around $30-$40 an hour because I'm good at what I do. I, hands down, bring in the most $$ for the company. Now we've had a new office manager since the new year, who apparently doesn't quite understand why the dynamics around the shop are the way they are. Well I was informed last night by text around 10pm telling me essentially I'm getting a pay cut (I'm getting bumped from commission to hourly wages, a whopping $17 an hour)…. if they want a 30k employee, well you get what you pay for I guess, and she doesn't realize how petty I am. They can provide me with a company phone, as I'm not using my personal phone for work anymore, they can re-supply my entire inventory of tools, since I may need my personal tools for personal things. Oh I also am billing them for the time it takes me to pick up my co-worker, since I only started picking him up so my supervisor (co-workers uncle) didn't have to go out of his was since co worker lives like 3 minutes away from me. To salt the wound, being commission I really didn't take breaks. Just don't need them. But now? Believe all 15 minute jobs are taking an hour minimum now. Driving under the speed limit. No more express way driving, only regular roads. I'm going to eat the clock and do a little as possible. Watch our already low sales (for 3 months it was literally me and my supervisor running a 24/7 365 service company) fall even more because the one person who actually busts his ass for the company refuses to bust his ass for peanuts. That's why I quit previously. Best part is? If I quit, or get fired w.e I'm willing to bet the other guys wouldn't stick around long after finding out I got a pay cut, which means the odds of them getting raises are slim.
