Yelled at over the phone for putting in my 2 weeks by text message

I work in IT at my local school system, making $12.50/hr. So I got a call for a job offer and accepted the job then texted my two bosses that I was putting in my two weeks. I called the other boss (much cooler guy) and said that I didn’t intend for my text to be the end of the conversation and that I was going to follow up on it, and he said yeah I thought so it’s all good. So that made me much more confused at the actions of the other boss. What do you all think?
