You always have a choice! Stand up to your boss, and refuse abuse at work, or be left without rent and food money for the next X amount of months/years.

I hate it when some people (usually in privileged positions) urge others (in less privileged positions) to “just quit” or “stand up for yourself at work”. Yes, you can't always take shit, but sometimes you literally don't have a choice. My parents are out of work, my apartment and food expenses are leaving me with very little on the side (if anything, each month). I have basically no choice. If I quit, I risk not being able to afford housing and food for the next who knows how long? While my boss is traveling the world, he worries about gas prices effecting his profits (millions a month).
