Had a blow up at work today that led me to walking out. Long story short, all of our normal supervisors/managers were out because of days off and/or covid going around. So one of the senior employees was the “temporary supervisor” for the day. Well, a bunch of drama went down and long story short it degraded to her screaming at me “I'm the supervisor, you HAVE to listen to what I tell you!” “I'm the supervisor, you HAVE to respect me! Mind you, this is all going down during my lunch break, felt literally like the cat and screaming lady meme.
Well, I respond that “you can play boss for the day, but i'm not here for amateur hour. You need to learn how to better communicate with your employees to empower productivity. If you want respect, you gotta give it.” Obviously that didn't help deescalate things, but we were well past that as she already threatened to send me home, so I packed up my bag and walked out. All while she is screaming “YOU HAVE TO RESPECT ME!” as I, with my back turned to her and heading out the door, told her to shut up. Which led to more screaming from her as I ignored her and left.
Like, it's a minimum wage job, one of like 4-5 jobs I have (thanks modern work culture), I don't have any interest in dealing with that drama at any workplace, let alone one that's at the bottom of my food chain. But damn, it sure did feel good to tell them off like that.
