So, I wanted to share this that happened today. I'm on mobile, sorry for the formatting.
I work in retail, for a big european chain, that has moved into electronics not so long ago. For those of you that don't know, the profit margin for shops that sell electronics comes from selling complementary products (think extended warranties, insurance, first starts, all this sort of stuff).
Since I started working there, I've been in the top 3 sellers, month, after month, after month, and the last three, I've been the main seller. I don't really want to brag, but I take pride in what I do, even if I hate it.
With that out of the way, today it's been a very slow day, maybe 6k€, in 11 hours that the shop is been open. The only extended warranty that's been sold today, it's been mine. We were an hour away from closing, and there was no one besides workers, and manager inside the shop.
Now, I've been contacted by another company, to work in my field, and I start in less than a month, I've already told my manager, the bosses below him, and my fellow workers, I intended to keep both works, so I can save and buy a house, honestly I don't know if I want to do it anymore.
This manager comes to me, being the snake he is, and tells me -Look, AssistantLong, I want to keep you here, but the numbers are down, and I cannot go against what [regional manager] says, you should be selling more.
Me, being the drama kid that I always been, looked around the shop, looked him in the eye, and said – You do remember that I'm starting in another place in less than a month, don't you?
His face turned red, and didn't say a word to me in the rest of my shift and closing time.
Tl; dr: Manager tries to wangle me into selling more, I'm getting another job in a month, he loses his mind
