Just want to echo what so many have shown over the last few years and share my story to hope others gain the courage to keep looking for other work and leave their current underpaid employer.
- I worked for Employer A – 8 years of experience and they give 1-5% raises yearly at best. Recently gave brand new employees a 15% bump to “stay competitive”. Asked for equal raise, they declined.
- I applied at Employer B – offers identical position for 40% higher pay
- Asked current employer A – hey I'd like an salary review. They respond with sorry we can't afford more (they can).
- Take Employer B offer – watch as Employer A struggles to figure out how they will replace you and ask you to do a bunch of things to train replacement (I'll work real hard at that sure)
- LOL as you find your worth and enjoy your life more than you did making slave wages.
For anyone still trying to find work outside of your current employer or still working for pennies; DON'T GIVE UP. YOU ARE ALMOST THERE. KEEP FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT. YOUR CURRENT EMPLOYER DOES NOT THINK YOU HAVE THE BALLS TO LEAVE. CALL THEIR BLUFF.
