“You won’t be wealthy if you don’t work hard”

Boomer. “Our cousins are stuck to their business, sure, but nobody gets wealthy if they don't work hard.” Me. “Sorry, what? I mean, how many wealthy teachers do we know?” B. “Teachers work hard, but they get all that time off and look what they do with it.” Me. “So, before I quit teaching, what was I supposed to do, exactly?” B. “Some teachers start businesses. I'm not trying to tell you how to live, but the cousins — they get to go on a vacation every year!” Me. Ah, yes. A yearly vacation, a sure sign of wealth. “Sure, and that's cool, but why do so many wealthy people just get to do nothing and still be wealthy, then?” B. “They're not lazy, they tell employees and others what to do.” I couldn't keep going. My only response to that was “Then they're thieves.” The only people who complain…

I couldn't keep going. My only response to that was “Then they're thieves.”

The only people who complain about laziness are those who want to be lazy themselves.
