Your Poor Life Choices Are Not My Problem

For some reason people think that because they choose to allow for their job to make them miserable it should impact you too. Another group was setup recently and I lost a couple of people in my team to their group and their associated projects. Makes sense to me and I have zero issue with it. The person who took those resources loves to be miserable and takes on too much. Also he seems to think the people in his team should too. They all quit because the new guy sucks. So I agreed for a bit I would lend a hand with the work because my team still owns part of the project. Three months go by he still hasn't helped with anything and now is telling me I should work as much as him because that's fair. Shit for me I turn down work if I can't support…

So I agreed for a bit I would lend a hand with the work because my team still owns part of the project. Three months go by he still hasn't helped with anything and now is telling me I should work as much as him because that's fair. Shit for me I turn down work if I can't support it. I tell my team to make time for mental health or they will be miserable and get burnt out.

I asked him how the hiring was going and the dude told me to “stay in my lane.” Literally just asked if he as made any progress and if he needed some additional recruiters. So then I asked him to join his first meeting on the project in months and he told me to schedule it for Saturday…. I said please recommend a time that's reasonable for everyone. He continued to be passive aggressive. Like I can have empathy and do an extra person's job for a couple of months but at some point you gotta draw a line.

I hate this culture that everyone thinks everyone should be miserable instead of being honest with themselves and their managers and say when they have too much on their plate.

Being a corporate cog is the worst.
