I live an African country with so much government corruption that we are hemorrhaging billions a year. And that's just government corruption. A significant portion of the people are piss poor and malnourished, with far too many not even having access to basic amenities like toilets or running water.
Every few weeks there's a protest because people don't have access to things that have been promised for decades. Then there's a promise, and a failure to provide, and then a other protest.
And the worst of it all? The same government that has failed the people for 3 decades wins the election. Every. Single. Time. This despite the fact that the one province where there is actually good governance is run by the opposition.
What has this got to with antiwork? Like people here, you (I'm looking at you, USA) keep doing the same thing over and over over, thinking shit will change. The difference is that my people are uneducated, superstitious, and fiercely traditional, while you are supposed to be progressive and well-informed.
I bet that most of you think of the 2024 election as Bernie's chance to finally win. You think this despite the fact that in the last 2 elections hIs own party betrayed him. Even his so-called friends in the Dems sold him out. What do you think is going to be different in 2024? Is the DNC who nominated a senile old turd over Sanders, and who changed their rules to prevent Tulsi from participating – even after saying that their rules cannot be changed – suddenly going to have a change of heart? Will politicians stop taking money from corporations to further a corporate agenda? Is there finally to mg to be a candidate who actually gives a fuck about you?
Hell no.
If you wait for your politicians to change things you'll wait until the sun swallows the Earth. Your political system is as fucked as your economic system (for those who haven't noticed yet, the only difference between DEM and GOP is the jacket they wear. They both serve the same masters. Washington is privately owned).
I don't know what it's going to take to change things, but the ballot box isn't it.
