“You’re fired. Wait, maybe we have a job for you. We’ll see.”

The company I work for was acquired recently, and I was told my position was redundant, but I wasn’t being laid off immediately. Basically they told me they’re keeping me for a few months and if I stay for the entire transition period I get a decent severance. But in the last few days I’ve had a few 1:1 meetings with folks from the acquiring company and it turns out that they’re having trouble finding qualified people to hire — for my position. And that they don’t have staffing plans “solidified yet”. So now like a month later they’re starting to backtrack and I feel like I’m being jerked around. It’s very clear that this M&A did not have a lot of thought or planning that actually went into it. Which isn’t an awesome selling point for staying if they offer me something. Added bonus, literally the day before this…

Added bonus, literally the day before this acquisition was announced i scheduled my consult for top surgery. Fucking timing right?
