Been at the same job since early 2022, wages are salary with benefits. Granted this is a small company (under a dozen people), but I often will come in early, have stayed past regular hours and even work weekend shifts to help with workload.
GM is out of the office today, so I brought up the topic of requesting days off with other people in the office. When I was hired on, I was told I would get “5-10 vacation days, but I need to talk with the owners, they should be in town soon”. That was 4 months ago. I've been in sales and I know a stalling tactic when I see and hear one. Worst part is I don't think the owners care because they are retired and live in Florida.
I am requested early November, over 6 months in advance. One of the other employees (been here 5+ years) says they didn't get vacation until year 2 of employment. That instilled a TON of confidence in me, let me tell you.
So I'm sorry, but no. I haven't been on a vacation since 2013. I need a mental and physical break from life and everything at work. If you can't give me 4 days of vacation set up close to half a year in advance, AND IM WORKING WEEKENDS?! I'm not sure how many times is too much when bringing this up with my boss, but I think three is already too many.
TL;DR : My job is about to lose a very valuable and dedicated employee over them beating around the bush about 4 days of vacation.
