So I recently started in this new job. Instead of working 8 till 4 monday till friday which is normal in my country (Norway), I'm working from 8 on monday till 8 on wednesday and then I'm off for a full week. Start again at 8 on wednesday and work till 8 on friday, and off for another week. Then it's 8 on friday till 8 on monday and off for a full week. Then repeat. That is 2 to 3 days at work always followed by a full week free from work. You can travel!
This is a 100 percent job with more than 100 percent pay (extras because of many hours in once), because I'm working 48 hours at the time which is more than a full work week. It's balanced out by being paid less per hour between 22 and 06, because I'm sleeping then anyway (In a bed at work).
This type of shift is called medleverturus in Norway and it's getting more and more normal especially in the health care business. I work at an institution for mentally challenged kids. There's probably something similar to this in other countries too, I just don't know the word in english.
I am seriously NEVER going back to any other way of working. Working only two days in a row and then basically have a vacation is just so fucking awesome that I want to recommend this to everyone that's sick of the ordinary hamster wheel. I am doing a much better job than I ever did before too, because it's so much more motivating to work when I get a week off instead of just the weekend which is just way too short. Check out your possibilites! Peace.
