I was laid off on June 20th from a job I held for nearly 5 years (different positions throughout the years). My position was always permalance but I was a full time member of the staff. I asked for years to become full time to get PTO and benefits but never granted it. Eventually I just gave up because the job is pretty niche and the day rate was decent. The job was pretty dead end and I was looking to leave for a long time if I’m honest. My friend was always laid off on June 20th (same permalance situation, different role).
Today they posted a job listed for a role that combines both my position and my friends position into one role. They essentially want the work of two people for the price of one.
The best part? Since I wasn’t ever hired on full time (after 5 years remember), I got $0 severance. What a joke.
