So way back in my high school and trade school working restaurant jobs, coming up on 20 years ago. I went thru a phase of listening to old country music, thanks Napster. I came across Johnny Paycheck and his song Take This Job and Shove It. I ended up making this my ring tone, on my flip phone, for work. Just so I knew when I would be getting a call about coming into work cause they were short staff or etc… Now every time I hear I just smile and laugh missing my old coworkers and the shenanigans we would get into, but not the mangers and some of their bs.

Docking hours for a natural disaster
I’m in my early 20’s, I live in Australia and work full time in finance. I left work halfway through the day because of the floods (as did most of us), as I was worried I wouldn’t be able to make it home. My boss didn’t pay me for those hours, which I do understand as I wasn’t actually working. Their reasoning was that the actual business didn’t shut down so they are under no obligation to pay us. But it rubbed me the wrong way as I am only earning graduate pay and they are millionaires. The fact that it was a natural disaster had me thinking they would have a heart. I don’t know maybe I’m just greedy
How to deal with annoying boss
At least 5 times every 10 minutes, my boss calls my name over the cubes and says every single update in his day. I’m a programmer, so every single time he does this, he ruins my flow. I just wish I could dial in and listen to music, and not have a middle manager ask me what I’m up to every 2 seconds. It really makes me happy when he doesn’t come to work and I can actually get things done.
Please help me feel less guilty
I left teaching in May to become my husband's primary caregiver. I decided to get a part-time job to help pay for my health insurance. The job is great and I like what I do but they hired me at minimum wage. I have a degree in education and 15+ years working with adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. I thought, given that all my skills apply to the job that I could negotiate a raise once I got hired. Well, I did get a raise but only because they raised the minimum wage by 87 cents. So I got a 87 cent raise. So now I'm looking for a new job because despite my boss being a great guy and often praising the work I do, it doesn't pay the fucking bills. But I feel guilty for looking and I'm struggling with how to tell him.
Hmm. I don't see “I'm just too damn lazy to be bothered.” on this survey /s https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2022/03/09/majority-of-workers-who-quit-a-job-in-2021-cite-low-pay-no-opportunities-for-advancement-feeling-disrespected/ft2022-03-09_greatresignation_01/)
Employees don’t want this!
As if they couldn't be more out of touch with the employees, one of the largest global banks is asking US workers back to the office at least 2 days a week. However, if you were able to get an exemption to the vaccine mandate they enforced, you can continue to stay remote. With the increase is gas prices and traffic only getting worse in my area this feels like a punishment to employees who exceeded during the work from home phase and did the right thing getting vaccinated. Thank you Citi!
