notice of vacation…

So, I'm totally pro most of what I see here. So, grain of salt. Many, many years ago I worked at a company, small, owner was mostly in the office. Electronic retail(early days cell phones for the common man). I was always considerate of work realities. There are weekend and holidays that clearly were important. No complaints. I go to the owner and let him know “I'm taking days X thru Z off” (basically a week plus weekends on either side). Owner responds with “don't you mean you are asking me?”. My response was, “with all do respect, I'm telling you”. He was like that doesn't seem right. Long story to my pointless: business owners are business owners, so be considerate of the work…but don't ask/beg either. Worse case, you go find another job. Now the important part, jobs are not careers. But even careers should have the same view if not respect. Understand, businesses are businesses, but if it's a job…you can totally get another one. It's generally much easier for you to find another job than for them to fill your position. But even still, it's easier for you to keep your position, take your time, and know it's not forever.
