I've been working with this Illinois company for 5 years. I was recently put on a performance improvement plan in the summer. I was unhappy and stressed with the initiative I was forced to take part in where I had to abandon working with my local coworkers and work with others on the other side of the world with short time zone overlaps. I had to learn a completely new coding language, product, and working style on the job and compete with people who have had more than a year experience with the software and product to deliver a functional product to the client. This was without proper training due to lack of resources. I was put on a PIP but I was left unassigned without any projects. So, essentially I had no way to improve my performance as there were no projects for me to work on and there…

So basically the first movie spider man (with Tobey Maguire) is the story of : Oncle Ben, a 68-year-old worker, fired from his job after 35 years with the same company, who has to work to survive (no retirement) and who can't find a job because the companies have staggering demands (in his case it is imperative to know how to use a computer, we were in 2002, not the bronze age but still) Ben Parker: I'm already on my ass, May. When the plant's senior electrician is laid off after 35 years what would you call it? I am on my ass. Hand me that dish. The green one. The corporation is downsizing the people and upsizing their profits. May Parker: Oh, Ben, you'll get another job somewhere. Ben Parker: Well, let's look in the paper and see. There are the want ads. What do we got here? Computer……
Just wondering since capitalism is a system used almost worldwide
Just been let go
Was told it wasn't working out to which I agreed and parted ways and after I left boss told other staff I was a thief and couldn't be trusted
I got my first yearly merit increase!
A whopping 2.5% from 17.23 to 17.66. When mentioning to my supervisor that my very large multinational company posted nearly $15 billion in net profits last year and the top five execs made almost $100 million, I was told “no company gives raises in line with inflation. I've been here 14 years and that's how it's always been.” Not going to call out this company because they have a very large social media presence and a not great reputation, and I have no prospects lined up for a new job.
Ours was a video of our whole c-level exec team saying “thank you”
Mind Games at Work
I question myself CONSTANTLY here. I work in the office of a plumbing company. My dad is the owner, my brother is the VP, and another woman runs the office. I am an assistant. I try really hard but this company has so many moving parts that it's easy for things to get lost in the shuffle. I write myself notes to keep on top of things so I don't forget. Every afternoon I check tomorrows job folder to make sure all the tickets are there. Especially the jobs I take. Yesterday, I checked the folder and saw two that I missed and I put them in. There were actually three that I missed but I didn't see it until the customer called wondering where the plumber was this morning. I was able to get it handled relatively easily but the more I think about it the more angry I…
Recently we had an issue with management about assuming overtime. A fellow employee clocked out in a different area. HR ruled that we are free from our shop at 345 and can clock out anywhere after that time at 4. We’ll last time I went to HR to get ALL policies available she gave me the generic stuff. Not the specific stuff. Why? And how can I get access to ALL of it?
Fudged over
Hello all, I work in healthcare. About 6 months ago half of our team quit, including our trainer. We never officially hired a new trainer so I took over with assisting new hires and our current team in every way. I guess I could say I was the unofficial trainer, since this was not reflected on my pay or my job title. Over that time period every single coworker and new hire recognized me to HR, some people did multiple times. I was doing this for $15 an hour. 3 months into this my employer said “to match the current market everyone is getting a $1 raise. Fast forward to last week, my employer announces we are merging with another team, came into our area and said EVERYONE is getting promoted, to the role I had been working for, for the past 6 months +. I was then raised to…
