no more tip jar

i work at a coffee shop and we recently switched parent companies, and the company made us get rid of our tip jar. they say because they raised our wages we don’t need a tip jar. we now have to tell our customers that we cannot take the tips that they WANT to give to us. the company doesn’t have to pay taxes on the tips, they are always evenly distributed, and it’s almost never more than a few bucks anyway, so WHY did they make us get rid of it?? Absolute pieces of shit running these companies.

just had a discussion with my parents about work morality

They went on and on about how they feel proud about their work moral in other words always goving 110% and never taking sick days even when you are sick. I said I work so I can afford to do stuff during my free time, I do not work to provide anything for my boss/company, I don't give a shit about my workplace, its just a source of money and I will do what is asked of me and nothing more. They didn't like that response one bit. They went all like ” your boss will see that you aren't trying your hardest ” But then I know that every year when we discuss our wages they have a set amount to give out to all of us and a minimum that everyone is getting and the remaining is given out depending on you contributed the most but the thing…

Starbucks’ new wave of union busting and store propaganda is pathetic

Hey all. This is a mini rant so if that’s not something you want to hear please disregard this post. I currently work at starbucks and today reminded me of how sick and twisted the company is. Today I was sat down in an isolated setting one-on-one with an apparent manager of mine who i’ve never seen before. She proceeded to show me numerous videos which were basically complete propaganda and were highlighting how (common tactic of theirs) great and morally justified they are as a company. I was given a slip with all of their benefits to subconsciously try to remind me of how i’m so taken care of, how I shouldn’t be critical about the company, “look at these benefits that don’t apply to you, but look what we have to offer!” that kind of deal. I could go into greater detail but it’s irrelevant and I’m tired…

BOYCOTT SYSCO (Xpost from KitchenConfidential)

Sysco drivers and warehouse workers are on strike in the Baltimore/D.C. metro area. This affects my restaurant. My rep called and assured me that Sysco is bringing in “the best associates” from around the country to scab in their warehouse and on their routes. WAKE UP SYSCO. Your best workers are outside on the picket line! Many of these guys have been their for their whole career. Many more 30+ years. And this is how they are treated? Sysco has doubled down on their anti-worker policies. We stand strong with our brothers and sisters on the picket line in Jessup, Maryland. Buy what you must, but every dime Sysco makes in profit right now is going to fucking over their workers. Let's give them the squeeze. Fuck Sysco. Fuck scabs. Brotherhood of workers forever
