So I work for an automotive company (can't say which one, NDA). They pay hourly, decent pay, great benefits, etc. However we just got a new manager that doesn't know jack shit about cars, how they work, what kind of shenanigans working on them entails, or anything like that. She does have a crew of “leads” to dispatch work though. There's several things that bother me. Long story short, the metrics they want you to hit are constantly moving and difficult to hit. They want 3 cars per day and 6hours flagged. Sounds easy enough. But if you get 1 car with 7 hours, you miss productivity metrics. If you hit 5 cars but 4 hours, you also miss metrics. A lot of the times are quite unrealistic as well for anyone that isn't hopped up on red bull and steroids. I've had two cars come back since I started…

Lao tzu – The first ANTIWORKER
The people starve because those in authority over them devour too many taxes; that is why they starve. The people are difficult to govern because those placed over them are meddlesome; that is why they are difficult to govern. The people despise death because of their excessive labor in seeking the means of life; that is why they despise death.
I understand it's the companies choice, I'm just genuinely curious how that works seeing as they technically are an employee while on CNESST and it was just over a month ago that the accident happened. Or is that not possible due to the fact that they are no longer on that companies payroll? Thanks in advance for the info
I got a great plan
A lot of people think we can vote, join a union, or strike our way into better labor laws, work environment, and economic power. This is the thing, most policies are made to fuck us over. And if you haven’t realized, s/ we’ve been doing great with voting our way into better things. The reason these industries have so much influence and economic power is that they lobby their way into an unfair playing ground that gives them the advantage. A great documentary on the prison industry doing this is amendment 13th on netflix and youtube video by representus called corruption is legal in america. Now if you do a little bit of research you will see the job of politicians is to convince us they are going to help us while they pass these bills that creates unfair economic disadvantages for us. When the flow of money always goes…
Just an open-ended question to spark some discussion on this topic. Today at the office a few of us sat down and discussed pay. Crazy I know but what was more shocking than anything is how criminally underpaid some of my colleagues are. We live in Miami, by yourself you will literally not survive without at minimum 75-80k, Studio Apts are renting for 2,500+ with the x3 monthly income (post taxes of course) requirements that most of these rental buildings have, you would need to make 90k on your own just to live in a 300 sqft box in the city. A majority of my colleagues make at lowest 55k and at the highest 300k+) that range is just not ok, some of these poor souls started working at 45k and worked their way to 55k after 5+ years of slavery. So the question still bears, how much do YOU…

What are they gonna do, fire us all?
Work in cruddy retail, but the pay is an ABSOLUTE joke. I already have something else lined up and am jumping ship. The place is such in disarray that there is no accountability for anything, because unlike other jobs, if they fire someone….there is no just stack of applicants waiting. As I said, the pay is a joke. I'm part of the truck crew, which seems to be the only job in store. Management dropped a bomb telling me that it takes a RIDICULOUS three no call/no shows IN A ROW, to get even a warning. I tested the theory awhile ago and straight no called no showed for the first time in my life. I went in the next day, and it was business as usual, not even a question. Today. Seems like every single member of the truck crew did this and I woke up to a mass…
They said they cannot move with a counter offer unless I forward them my current offer that is a lot more than what I currently make. I told them no because I wouldn’t want to jeopardize anything with a new potential employer. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Has anyone ever gone to a third counter offer from the competitor after the current employer makes a counter offer?
Sad but true :(
She's been there for some time now, she's always worked Monday through Friday because there aren't any affordable daycares that are open on Saturday. She also doesn't make enough to keep him in there for 6 days a week. Her job is now requiring her to work Monday through Saturday every 3rd week. She told them when they decided to implement it that she was unable to find care for Saturdays consistently if at all. They told her that because they were giving her two weeks that it wasn't their problem and that she needed to work it out. Originally they had someone there to do it but promoted that someone. They said it would be like this until June likely and she said it wasn't possible for her to find something that long term for childcare. Then after that she found out that they already let someone else not…
