finally saying fuck my current job
Been WFH for 2 years, pay wasn't great but it worked w my living situation/financially. But after being given a raise of 36 cents an hr I immediately started applying to back of house kitchen stuff, which I really do enjoy, I've already interviewed w 4 places. One of which is offering a $5 increase compared to current pay, its a nice restaurant and good food. For the WFH job, soon as I secure the new job I'm putting in for the rest of my PTO and them quitting and returning my equipment lmao. I'm so excited for all of this, fuck a job that thinks a 36 cent raise is acceptable like ever at all
I spent 10 years at a job that was amazing at first but then slowly declined with awful middle management. I began to dread going into work, it became so toxic and catty in the office, I couldn’t stand it. I got hurt in January of this year and being at home, finally able to relax and reading posts from this group made me realize that I don’t have to take shit anymore. I can go for my dream job, which I just landed today. Thank you to everyone that posts in here. “WE’RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMOREEEE!”
No I don't want to work in a field where basic human decency is rare. No I don't want to work in a field where 12 hours a day is normal and being awake for 4 hours after work means I'm dragging my ass the next day. I don't care if it pays great, I'm tired of basically having to babysit grown men or just deal with the crap that comes with it. I hate that the only place to make a decent livable wage is where you destroy your body day in and day out and everyone is fine with it. The only option is to either suffer and work through the crap, or find a job you love and struggle to make ends meet. There is no middle ground.
At work, it is presumed you are guilty.
In America, the legal system presumes you are innocent, but at work you are presumed to be guilty. Guilty of theft, guilty of tardiness, guilty of being unmotivated, unengaged, and full of resentment. Work assumes you are dishonest, that you will be always looking to cheat, to lie, that you are shiftless, lackadaisical, and lazy. You are lazy. Now prove them wrong. Management thinks the worst about their workers because they are typically incompetent, petty, and borderline psychotic. Think I'm exaggerating? Think about all the kind, caring, and decent bosses you've had. Yeah, I thought so.
Passive Aggressive Boss
I work in a small company where my contract literally states I can work any 8 hours between 7am to 6pm. I start at 8:30am and finish my 8 hours and leave around 4:30pm so I can get some sun . Today while I was leaving at 4:40pm my boss says “oh you’re leaving already it’s only 4:30.” And I’m like yes I usually come here at 8:30 and he goes very sarcastically “so you got your work done did you?” I just said yeah I did, see you tomorrow and walked out. I do genuinely get all my work done, I have constantly put in overtime despite not getting paid for it and yet I keep getting comments like these. Why do I have to stay till “5pm” and warm the bench and pretend to do work for those extra 20 mins…? Sick and tired of this patronising culture,…
