Sick Days Traded for Off Days?

My boss thinks if you call out sick, you’re basically trading that day for your regularly scheduled day off because ‘why would you get two days off?’ I argue that a sick day isn’t a day off considering you’re most likely not getting any personal errands done and are just laying in your house miserable. I’m a salaried worker in at-will state and I never signed any kind of employment contract. If my boss pressures me to trade a sick day for an off day, can I tell him to shove it?

Something being free doesn’t make it worthless…

I found this posted by some conservative “foundation”. They're trying to argue against free college by saying that degrees would be worthless if they were free. For decades they've been telling us that you need to go to college to get a good job and have a good life; which isn't always the case, but the argument has some merit because is it true at least some of the time. And in saying that you need to go to college to do stuff or be somebody, they're inherently saying that a college degree is worth something. Now they're trying to say that it is only worth something if you pay a shit-ton of money for it? Like, seriously, what kinda of stupid fuckery is this? https://preview.redd.it/ez0ec7341jr81.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=13eacda668d88944bfab01db8b2f4eba01e298d4

so I was scheduled to have a phone interview an hour ago.

I got no calls or emails telling me the interview was canceled or that the interview was going to be delayed. I can't imagine if I did that to a potential job I wouldn't hear the end of it, and if I was supposed to make the call why wasn't that told to me in our email? It's pretty shitty

Boss is Threatening to Dock Wages

Context: I work remotely and I'm required to use Hubstaff to track my activity. For those unfamiliar, Hubstaff tracks all your mouse clicks, keystrokes, etc, and tabulates your work output into a percentage at the end of the day. My boss sent out a memo today telling everyone to “…please be conscious that 65% or greater is equal to 100% of whatever your rate of pay is and a productivity of less than that will reduce your rate for the period only”. Is my boss within her rights to do this? Can she dock wages based on performance? Or is this wage theft/illegal in some way? I'd like to have something to back me up before I confront her about this. Edit: I am waged and work in the US.

I walked out!

So, I work in community care. Met my partner in the company (woohoo!) And that's been smooth sailing with he and I since. The company recently had a change in management. Our old manager was vastly underappreciated. She would cover shifts herself, managed the rotas, the office and staff independently. She was a ROCK, a literal cornerstone of the company. But because the owners didn't appreciate her value, she burnt out and she has quit. Shortly after she let us know she was leaving, my partner quit and got a new job. I said I'd stick it out and see what the new manager was like. New manager refuses to give staff rotas. Refuses to contact staff unless it's via email. Won't work evenings or weekends (sorry, but healthcare doesn't stop at 5pm on a Friday!) She's frequently left shifts uncovered on weekends leading to whomever is on call scrambling…

we’re fucked

I'm 17. Graduated early and am now going to cosmetology school from 8am-5pm. Then I work from 6-10, weekends it varies. I'm not the only one of course. Almost everyone here does the same, some work longer hours than I do. Some have kids and don't have time to even work. Those of us here aren't the only ones living like this. Everywhere it's the same. Graduate, go to school and work your fucking ass off for 10 bucks an hour, and for what!!?? I don't even like cosmetology. I don't know what else to do but I have to survive in this shitty economy. Even if I had some other career interests, I don't have the time to pursue them. We get stuck exactly where we land after HS. I think death would be preferable, but sadly I believe in reincarnation and I'm not doing this shit again.
