I work at a public library as basically customer service. As long as I’ve been here we’ve received annual cost of living raises in january or february. We hadn’t heard anything this year, so a coworker emailed the director and CCd all of us to ask what’s up. The directer responded letting us know she doesn’t know for sure, but the reason we haven’t gotten our raises is because the county has decided to move to merit based raises, and the library will likely follow. I’ve been thinking about leaving for quite a while now and this certainly is pushing me toward that option. Honesty, merit based raises motivate me to work less, because i despise the idea of getting a raise over my coworkers, who support me every day and need a raise as desperately as I do. I sure wish public workers could unionize in my state. .…

Ralph (owned by Kroger) hiring scabs
It had been the suckiest week to date under my asshole micromanaging boss with no social skills and a glaring lack of experience. He had never been a manager before last December so his only prior experience telling people what to do was parenting his twin toddlers. Turns out, using the same tactics on adults with whom you have a business relationship can be counterproductive! Boss seems both shocked and appalled by this development, but not enough to consider trying something different lol. He obstinately continues to aggressively swing his managerial dick at the slightest whiff of disobedience. It's exhausting. Tuesday, he wrote me up, AGAIN, for some trivial bullshit micromanagey reason. (He has done this to all my coworkers too.) But this time he upped the ante and PIP'd me. I signed the PIP, agreed to his “remedial actions” which included mentoring sessions aka watching him tear everything I've…
I’m at my breaking point here. I have gotten all these compliments from executives on all my hard work, my boss loves me, I lead every fucking project. I knew I was being slightly underpaid before this and I need to fix this ASAP as they are making us go back in 4 days a week. I can’t afford housing nearby, let alone a $200 monthly train ticket just to go into the office. I am meeting with my boss this week to discuss my future here and I really need them to match me on the new employees salary as they publicly listed it as well. I just needed to vent about this I have been so pissed all weekend and I wouldn’t be so pissed if I knew how much I fucking deserved it. Advice welcomed.
Is it normal to feel this way even when you mostly like your job? Like how am I still burnt out as hell? Oh, because the 1920’s Henry Ford work week is bullshit. /rant
Smells desperate
This past week I requested 2 weeks off in June. My boss said that she was “taken aback” that I asked for PTO when I know that we need to focus on finishing our projects. I said “we’re allotted a certain amount of vacation time, and if I don’t use it by the end of the year, I’ll lose it, and I’m not one to let time I earned go to waste”. My boss knows that my wife is a teacher and we can only really take time off in June and July. She said “ok, I can approve it, but I’d like you to put in some extra hours between now and then, because it’s not a good look if you’re taking off while we’re busy” I said “if we’re that busy, then we need to hire more staff – not deny vacations to people who earned it, and…

Am I Done For?
So, I (22F) have a horrible job history. The longest I ever stayed at a job was two months shy of 2 years. I quit after I got in trouble for grazing (opening things before purchasing them) a type of theft. I filed an EEOC lawsuit and they thought I was discriminated against and harassed. Once I told my boss I was pregnant I went from full-time hours to like 20 hours a week and all sorts of stuff. I paid for the stuff I opened (drinks) because no one was up front for me to purchase them before I needed to drink something and as a pregnant woman throwing up constantly, I was severely dehydrated. I have medical documents from multiple ER visits stating I was dehydrated and diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum. Grazing is a type of theft but not straight-up theft. Anyway, judge how you please. They filed…
