So I work for a outpatient mental health clinic that has like 9 locations around our state and we just got a new manager at our call center who was explaining to me that there is no possible way that we can afford to pay everyone a livable “competitive” wage because Amazon recently came to our state and set up a warehouse where they are paying people $17-22 an hour even though they have a huge turn over rate. Because apparently, “everyone wants to go work at Amazon for that rate and we can't afford to pay everyone that much”. Most of our medical assistants barely make the low end of that. But yet, the company that owns the clinics just acquired a chain of mental health clinics in a South American country for a large sum of money… and is planning and opening more clinics. Hmmm…
Month: April 2022
I’ve been working at a workplace for a few months now. At first the employees and manager were super charming, then slowly and surely came the accusations, blaming, ignoring, controlling, pushy behaviours with name calling, hostility, gaslighting, verbal outbursts, condescending and degrading comments, making me do uncomfortable things, the double standards and hypocrisy. A few days ago I quit and honestly this morning I woke up feeling super relieved and happy, as though a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. During the time that I worked there, I was constantly confused and stressed. But now that I have been able to take some time off work, I have been able to gain clarity and insight into the situation. After doing some personal reflection, I realised my co workers including my manager's behaviours resembled my narcissistic parents' behaviours. I'm not blaming anyone, it's just a realisation since I strongly…
Long post, new to posting, and on mobile- Here's my story! I (21F) have been working in a popular pizza chain for about 4-5 months. For the most part, it's a decent job, my co-workers are friendly, tasks throughout the day is easy, and pay matches the work. However, our manager (let's call him Kev, 22M) is extremely incompetent. Kev is unprofessional, talks way too fast, jokes inappropriately, and screams in the store thinking it is the funniest thing on planet Earth. Kev has also violated many OSHA guidelines, including: Using bleach cleaners with various other cleaning chemicals combined. Leaving pizza racks for hours out in the open with approximately 120 pizzas on those racks, causing the dough to bloat and come up to dangerous temperatures. And my favorite: Selling pizza with plastic in it. I am currently working on documenting all of these violations as a C.Y.A, and will…
I just took a $10,000 reduction in pay
And I giggled like an idiot all day. For the last few years I have been working like an animal. Seven or eight months of 24 day shifts 13.5 hours a day with four days off between shifts. I usually make between $130,000 to $160,000 a year. I just accepted a full time position for $120,000 a year. Two weeks on, two weeks off. Ten hour shifts. So I will be working way fewer hours for a little less money. I have a girlfriend, a son, and a side hustle. I can devote much more time to all of those now. And I will not be burnt out. I'm done grinding.
https://fair.org/home/washington-post-ran-16-negative-stories-on-bernie-sanders-in-16-hours/ This is so crazy. It is obvious that workers will have a better life if Bernie became president. Look at what Bezos has done to hurt those chances. [Washington post is owned by Jeff Bezos] I know this is old news but it is hitting me very hard right now. Just look at these articles – March 6, 10:20 PM: Bernie Sanders Pledges the US Won’t Be No. 1 in Incarceration. He’ll Need to Release Lots of Criminals March 7, 12:39 AM: Clinton Is Running for President. I work for the typical rich CEO who could care less about his employees and even less of his female employees. Who will pay you the bare minimum while he goes around the world several times a year, has his own wine ROOM and entire marble floors throughout his home. He has lied about benefits, lied about pay/under paid, has kept us working in a room while plumbers are jack hamming concrete to get to the crushed sewer line; there was no running water, dust and feces in the air. Use our PTO days even thought he closes the facility for dangerous weather. Fired a young girl WHILE SHE WAS GIVING BIRTH IN THE HOSPITAL. Even the company handbook we all signed is just lies apon lies. In the first 6 months I was working for this Ahole, I made just under 1 million dollars…. yes I seriously mean a…
