As the title says. Last Saturday, my supervisor started running a fever at work. She tested positive for covid. The best part is that she was apparently hiding that she was sick for 3 days before. She came to work, didn't wear a mask, didn't distance herself from everyone else and just carried on as if everything was fine. If it hadn't been for her sudden fever, she would've never even taken a covid test. She's been out since Saturday but tonight she came back to work despite the fact that it had only been 4 days since her positive test and despite the fact that she was CLEARLY still sick. She threw up in a trash can right in the middle of the break room. Quickly after MANY people (including myself) went home due to safety concerns. I had a chat with my assistant supervisor before I left and…

fiancé was told not to discuss his pay
and it’s pretty obvious they hired him for a lot less than what they’re paying others doing the same job. his shift manager has said on multiple occasions he wants to talk to the store manager about giving him a raise. not to mention tonight is the 9th night he has worked with no day off. he gets one night off tomorrow and that’s it for the foreseeable future. where can he go from here? as far as asking for more fucking money? and is it even legal to work someone 9 days in a row without a day off? there’s also a black widow infestation where they make the employees take their breaks!!! it’s just so twisted i don’t know where we should begin or if i’m looking into things too much.
I didn't until last week. I have to pay for the credits I earn with my unpaid internship. Yay me. Well it could be worse. At least it's a fun internship and it's only like 1500 bucks. I missed the cutoff for a payment plan though, since, you know, I didn't know it was a thing to pay for internship credits. Oh well.
Wait, you’re MAKING me quit?
I worked at a group home for at-risk adults. I had one resident who really enjoyed verbally assaulting me all day long, week after week, and for the most part, I found it amusing more than offensive. He hated me and I didn't care because this was a job and not a popularity contest. However, one day when I turned my back to him, he hit me with a metal folding chair. It dazed me pretty good but didn't knock me out. Hurt like hell, too. I told my supervisor that I needed to be moved to another house and I was not working in this one anymore. She approved the move but told me I “had to stay through the week in the current house”. Well, no can do, because it's not safe (first and foremost) and I have to rest for a couple of days (doctor's orders). So…
I wish companies were more like this
I read a lot of negative stories here so I thought I'd quickly share a positive one that happened to me today. So I've been working in this company for a while as a junior accountant, but ever since I joined, I was told that moving up the ranks is an opportunity for everyone to grab and I just need to excel at my job and all. I was told this crap before so I was like aight whatever. 7 months in and I've learnt the job from the inside out. And not only that, but all my ideas for improving and automating the processes that we're wasting a lot of time in were welcomed, discussed and the better ones implemented. It actually made me feel like I matter in my job for the first time in my life and that my opinion has some substance to it. I built…
Corporate greed is stopped by Tesco UK
I’m 43 & can’t do physical labor anymore
this just happened today. i work in a warehouse, the company is an alright company, but some of the managers are just shitty. today we had one of those shitty managers. funny enough, nobody likes him. if you mention his name, 95% of people say they don’t like him. anyway, on to the story. so my coworker pulled his back not too long ago. he was able to get a few days off to rest. it sounds like he has no choice but to work because he needs the money from what he has told me. when an injury like that happens, it gets reported and notifies all managers in the area. the other four managers we have are understanding of my friends injury and make sure he isn’t overworking himself, but that wasn’t the case today. our trailer was started to get slammed and my friends back was starting…
