Tonight I did something I never do. I wait tables at a Chicago deep dish pizza chain (not that one, the other one.) I'm fairly proud of my work and I always try to give my best service. Tonight a table of 2 came in, ordered some beers, an app and a pizza. They recieved prompt and courteous service from me. Drink refilled on time, food brought out hot, check delivered as soon as they were done eating. Now when I give bad service, I know it. Usually its because were busy or I've made some mistake with the order. When I'm out to eat I always tip well even for poor service, but I don't get upset over a tip if my service was poor. I get it. Thus couple recieved perfect service from me. Their bill was $58.48. They left $62 and walked out. So I went over…

A huge reason why you are seeing “lazy” people is because well we realize how much work takes out of our lives in order to live. You'd need at the “very least” 40 hours a week. That doesn't account for over time or call outs that the boss would want you to work. Most jobs don't or can't offer 40 hours a week so you would need a second job. Inflation and gas prices have gone up making it even more hard to afford that on top of rent increase. You can't just tell people to accept min wage that isn't increasing and expect people to somehow figure out how they are going to cover price increases. If the work place was better there would be a lot less “lazy” people. Perhaps instead of blaming those who don't want to work their ass off take your complaints to the company…

I remember working for a top tech company and when it came to the end of my contract position, my manager wanted to convert me to a full-time employee. But he did it in the most weirdest way. Our team was always very open and had an environment of taking about our personal life (think, asking each other how we plan to spend the holiday). I remember during my interview, my (future at the time) boss asked about my personal life. I casually mentioned that I had a daughter, he asked if I had a husband and a said no and that was the end of it. Then during the interview to convert (after I had done PHENOMENAL work restructuring their product dev cycle) he brought up me being a single mom and how much he needed me to ‘rise above my condition’ and prove my value to the company.…

Not sure why I have to make this thread, but idiot bosses seem to think giving out gas cards is better than giving a raise or a bonus. The reason you're giving the gas card is because your employee's living expenses have increased relative to their income. Temporarily alleviating that problem so they can commute to work for a week or two (and doing nothing else) is not a solution. It is not a nice gesture. It is a slap in the face.

I quit my job a couple weeks ago because I absolutely hated it. I worked in administration for a school and the students were just awful and I felt like I was being micromanaged at every turn. I decided to explore a different industry so I'm back into training. However, I had an issue getting my last check. Instead of direct deposit they mailed it and didn't tell me that's what they were doing. It got lost so I had to request a replacement. Well. They failed to include a breakdown of the hours worked and my PTO balance and what was paid out. I knew I had PTO left over and I was counting on that extra money.
